Privacy Policy

Overview
SnapGPX (“the App”) lets you export workouts recorded in the Health app as GPX, TCX, or FIT files. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App accesses, how it uses that data, and what choices you have.
Data We Access
The App requests read-only access to the following Apple HealthKit data:
- Workout records — activity type, duration, distance, energy burned, elevation gain and loss, ambient temperature, whether it was indoors or outdoors, the segments of a multisport workout, the name of the device that recorded it, and the effort rating given to it.
- Workout route data — GPS coordinates, altitude, and timestamps associated with your workouts.
- Sensor samples recorded during a workout — heart rate, running and cycling speed, running and cycling power, cycling cadence, underwater depth, and water temperature. The App reads them to show a workout’s summary metrics and to write them into the files you export.
The App does not access step count, sleep, body measurements, clinical records, or any other HealthKit data type. If you turn off sensor data in the App’s settings, exports contain only the route, and the App does not read the sensor samples above for them.
How Your Data Is Used
- The App uses workout, route, and sensor data solely to show your workouts and to generate the files you choose to export.
- Files are generated entirely on your device.
- Your workouts, routes, and sensor samples leave the device only when you share an exported file yourself, to the destination you pick at that moment. You do not need an account.
- Apart from what you share yourself, only four kinds of data leave your device, and each has a specific purpose. The first is the point where a route starts, and also the point where it ends if that is 500 meters or more from the start: Apple turns them into the city name you see next to the workout. The second is a set of usage signals that show us which features are used, sent only if you agree to it (see Analytics below).
- The third leaves only if you ask for it. After you combine workouts, you can have the map join each one to the next with a walking route. The App then sends Apple the point where each workout ends and the point where the next one starts, and Apple returns a walking path between them. That path is only drawn on the map and never goes into an exported file. None of the four includes a full route, a health measurement, your name, or any account.
- The fourth: to draw the map, the App asks Apple Maps for the map tiles of the area on screen. These map requests reveal the area of a route, but not the route itself (see Third-Party Services below).
- We run no server that receives your health data, and we never sell or hand over any data to advertisers or data brokers.
Data Storage & Retention
- The App keeps no database of your health data. Instead, it reads from Apple HealthKit each time you open it.
- Files you export are saved wherever you choose to share or save them (for example, Files, AirDrop, or email). Each export is written to a temporary folder and deleted once you have shared or dismissed it; if an export is interrupted, whatever it left in that folder is deleted the next time the App starts.
- From one launch to the next, the App keeps your preferences, the city names it has already looked up (so it does not have to ask Apple again about the same route), the random identifier described under Analytics, and what TelemetryDeck keeps to produce its statistics: a record of when and for how long the App is used, and any signals not yet sent.
Analytics
SnapGPX uses TelemetryDeck for usage analytics, which help us understand which features are used and improve the App. The App sends nothing to TelemetryDeck unless you agree to it.
- The first time you open the App, it asks whether you want to share usage statistics, and both answers are offered on equal terms. Until you answer, and if you decline, nothing is sent. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- You can change your answer at any time in the App, under Settings → Privacy → Share usage statistics. If you turn it off, the App stops TelemetryDeck straight away and deletes what TelemetryDeck kept on your device: the signals not yet sent and the record of when and for how long the App was used. Withdrawing consent does not affect signals sent before.
- TelemetryDeck collects usage signals: which screens you visit, which export options you use, how many workouts an export includes, where you send an exported file (AirDrop, Files, or another app, never the file itself), and whether you are viewing the sample activities. Each signal also carries technical details that TelemetryDeck adds by default, such as device model, OS and App version, language, region, time zone, some accessibility settings, and how often and for how long the App is used.
- To count unique users, the App creates a random identifier the first time you open it. It is not derived from anything about you or your device, and deleting the App erases it. The signals carry a hash of this identifier rather than the identifier itself, so they are pseudonymous, not anonymous: they can be grouped by installation, but they are not linked to your name or to any account.
- TelemetryDeck never receives a route, a GPS coordinate, a health measurement, or even the sport of a workout.
- TelemetryDeck does not track you across apps or websites. No advertising SDKs are included.

Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following services:
- Apple MapKit — draws the route maps; turns the point where a route starts, and also the point where it ends if that is 500 meters or more away, into a city name for the workout list; and, when you ask for it after combining workouts, finds a walking path between the end of one workout and the start of the next. Apple receives the map requests and those coordinates; see Apple’s privacy policy.
- TelemetryDeck — usage analytics, only if you agree to them (see above).
No advertising or tracking SDKs are included. No data is sold to third parties.
Location Data in Exported Files
Exported files contain the GPS coordinates of your workout routes and, unless you turned sensor data off, the sensor samples recorded alongside them. Once exported, these files are under your control. They show where and when you worked out, so keep that in mind when you share them.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices
- You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health on your device.
- You can turn off sensor data in the App’s settings so that exports carry the route alone.
- If you revoke access, the App can no longer show or export your workouts.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we will post the revised version at this URL with a new date. If you keep using the App after a change, you accept the revised policy.
